Helen Gordon
Glass Artist

Born in Durham in 1981, Helen Gordon currently resides in Darlington with her husband and two daughters. Her journey with glass began eleven years ago when she enrolled in a night class, igniting a passion that would shape her artistic career.
Studying for her BA (Hons) Artist Designer Maker- Glass and Ceramics degree, (due to complete in 2025), has brought Helen awards for her work and her piece, "The Doctor Will See You Now" is due to be shown as part of the British Glass Biennale in August 2024.
Artist's Statement
Drawing upon decades of research into her family's varied history, Helen Gordon presents narratives that extend beyond personal anecdotes, contemplating their relevance to broader societal issues and questioning their persistence in contemporary times. Influenced by her father's deep love for nature, she also finds inspiration in the beauty of the natural world and the native wildlife that surrounds her. Utilizing her casting skills, she meticulously crafts delicate glass roses, pushing the material to its limits. She employs advanced technology to create anatomically precise images of birds, butterflies and moths, capturing their essence with intricate detail.
